Baked Cod / Ovnstekt Torsk

Fish is served often in Norway, and is prepared in many ways. It can be baked, poached in water, fried, combined with potatoes, onions, flour into fish balls.

Ingredients, Method & Procedure.

6 cod fillets (thaw if frozen)
4 c. hot milk (enough to barely cover the fish)
6 tsp. butter or margarine

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. Grease a shallow baking dish or a 9 X 13-inch pan. Arrange fillets, placing them close together in the dish or pan. (Choose a baking container in which fillets will fit closely together.)

3. Pour enough hot milk over fish to barely cover fillets.

4. Top each fillet with a teaspoon of butter or margarine. Bake for 20 minutes, or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Baking time: 20 minutes
Serves 4 to 6
