Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients, Method & Procedure.

Measure into a large bowl:

3 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

Sift the mixture together 3 times.

Cut in 1/2 cup butter.

Add 1 1/2 cups buttermilk

1 1/2 cups golden raisins (optional).

Hand-knead together and pat into a 10-inch circle on a lightly floured baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F until golden brown and done in the center (at least 1 hour). Cool on a rack.
